THE WINDS GO BY

From over the mighty mountains that rise in the Southern sky, They sweep in resistless fury; and the voice of the Lord Most High Is borne from the lands of silenee over the changeless snow, To the ears of those who listen when the great winds start to blow. Down fro mthe ice-filled gorges where no man's foot may go, The yrush in riotous hurry to the homes of men below; And the mighty bush-trees hearken to the Voice as the winds go by, And bow their heads in worship before the Lord Most High. Over the tussock uplands where the ghosts of hunger are, Over the rich green lowlands to the teeming towns afar, They whirl and eddy uritiring and the Voice that is never still, Can be heard in the great winds cadence by every ear that will. They come from the farthest heavens beyond the stars of night, And ever the Voice is in them for all who will listen aright, With a message of hope and healing when the light of f aith burns low Give us grace, O God, to hear it whenever Thy great winds blow.— Te Kaka.
