FIRE HAZARD

Sir,— It should please all permanent residents of Taupo to know that the Government is incorporating, in the Municipal Corporations Amendment Bill, legislation authorising a Borough Council to require the occupier or owner of land within the Borough boundaries, to remove broom, gorse, scrub or other growths which constitute a fire hazard. When it actually becomes law it is to be hoped that the Taupo Borough Council will enforce it to the limit, as there is too muclf at stake to allow unoccupied sections and absentee owners to get away with it. I am, etc.,

T. ARTHUR GRACE.
