GOLF SEASON CLOSES

PRESENTATION OF PRIZES The Taupo Golf Club held its closing day at the Links on Sunday last, November 8th. Though there were a number of showers during ihe afternoon the weather was 0 warm and there were good entries for the final day's competition, a mixed fourball bogey . Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies following the match, when there was a crowded attendance of members and visiting players for the presentation of prizes and trophies won during the season. During thq afternoon many favourable comments on the attractive appearance of the course and the condition of fairways and greens were heard. The President, Mr L. Cheal, after welcoming the many visitors who were present, went on to refer to these comments on the Club's course, and other similar ones made from tirne to time during the past season by visiting players from other clubs. While it might be thought that the topic was becoming threadbare, there there was no doubt such comments were justified, he paid a tribute to the officers and the Committee who had been responsible for the

planning and carrying out of' work resulting in this continuing impro vement ( applause ) . The President then announced the winners of the various prizes and trophies for the season's corxipetitions, which were presented by Mrs Cheal as follows: — Mixed fourball Bogey, prizes presented by Messrs, Henry Williams and Sons Ltd., Napier, first, Miss J. McKelvie and Mr A. Graham, second, Mr and Mrs Irving. Men's Fourball Bogey Match, D. | Woodward and J. Edwards. Ladies' Bogey Match, prize presented by Mrs Douglas, Mrs Collett. Ladies' Stableford Bogey Prize, Mrs Colbeck. Ladies' Senior and Junior Stableford Bogey Prize, senior, Mrs K. E. Young, junior, Mrs Collett. \ Most Improved Player, presented by Mrs George, Mrs Collett. Forser Trophy, Mrs Collett. Ladies' Eclectic Match, Mrs Collett, Men's' Eclecic Match, E. Ryan. Miller Cup, Mrs Collett. Ladies' Flight Match, Mrs Ryan. Ladies' Winter Cup, Mrs Colbeck. Men's Winter Cup, J. Miles. Men's Tauhara Cup, L. Cheal and J. Miles. Following the presentation of the trophies, Mr Cheal announced that there were two further presentations to be made. One was a wedding present from the Club to one of their members, Mr A. Hills, to whom they offered their congratulations, The gift would be duly presented when Mr Hills returned from his honeymoon (applause).
