CHUKOR EGGS IN SHORT SUPPLY A remit presented at the July Fishing and Shooting Conference at Turangi by the Taupo Rod and Gun Club urged that a serious endeavour should be made to establish Chukor in -the Taupo area, in view of the assurance of the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. A. Bodkin) that steps would be taken to this eff ect. A letter from the Secretary for Internal Affairs, Mr A. G. Harper, dealing with decisions on Conference remits, dated October 9, states "that instructions had been sent to the Department's Conservator in the Southern Lakes District to obtain up to fifty eggs this spring, to be hatched at the Rotorua Garne Farm. It had not been possible, however, to obtain eggs so far and no positive assurance of success could be given. Efforts were being continued to obtain a supply of eggs.
