MORE DIPHTHERIA CASES
FREE VACCINE AVAILABLE Dr J. F. Dawson,, Medical Officer of Health, Hamilton, in a communication to the "Times," writes as follows: — Last year, 1952, a total of only three cases of Diphtheria was notified. This year, up to now, twelve cases have already been reported. This is a very disquietening fact and should have the attention of all parents. Here is a disease that we can wipel- out — we have the means at our disposal to prevent it. The physical suffering of the child and the mental suffering of the parent need never occur if only parents will co-operate. The figures given above should sound a note of warning to all parents who have not had their children protected. A combined; vaccine for protecting children against diphtheria and whooping cough is available. Treatment is obtainable from any practitioner or alternatively from the local Public Health Nurse. This free service is available to all and parents are earnestly requested to avail themselves of it*
