BASKETBALL NOTES

FINAL DAY OF SEASON The basketball teams finished this season with a successful tournament in which four teams took part. The teams, Huka, Crusaders, High School and Primary competed for the Basketball Tournament Cup. Mrs McCarthy, Hawke's Bay basketball representative selector was a welcome visitor and assisted with refereeing. The Huka team won the Tournament with 6 points, Primary being runners up with 4 points. Commenting on the tournament Mrs McCarthy referred to the good play seen. Cups and trophies were presented at an .afternoon tea party at Rickit's Hall. Miss K. O. Lewis, Mrs J. Storey, Miss E. Rickit, Mi K. Bogue and Mr and Mrs McCarthey were guests of the Association. Miss Lewis presented the K. O. Lewis Cup to the Huka team which enjoyed an unbeaten record and obtained highest aggregate points. The Tournament Cup was also presented to Huka and Miss Lewis congratulated this team on its double success. Mr A. Buckleigh kindly donated to the Association a bag of sugar which he won in a raffle. Mrs J. Laughton, president of the Association, congratulated players on a successful season, due largely to the help of vice-presi-dents and the interest shown by the public.
