ANNUAL CRICKET MEETING

There was an attendance of over twenty at the Taupo Cricket Club's annual meeting at the Rainbow Tea Rooms on Monday, October 5, including five representatives of a new team from Tuck's and Taupo Sawmills. It was decided to hold a practice match at 1 p.m. on Sunday next. Fixtures are to be arranged for both the Taupo Club and Sawmills teams against Reporoa, Kaingaroa, National Park, Tihoi and various Rotorua teams. There was support for the playing of Saturday cricket if opponents could be found. The retiring president, Mr G. Patchett, presented Mr A. J. Collett, who is under transfer to Rotorua, with an electric griller in appreciation of his years of service as player and officer of the Club. On Mr Patchett's invitation, Mr Pennybrook, donor of a bat for the best all-rounder in the 1952-53 season, presented the bat to Mr Collett, the winner. The election of officers were as follows: — Patron, Mr J. Blundell; President, Mr G. A. J. Acres; VicePresidents, Messrs. H. Minett, J. Pennycook, J. Woodward, L. Stephenson; Hon. Secretary, Mr D. Woodward; Committee, Messrs. W. J. McKean, F. McKean, D. Macken, A. Forster, V. Geoghan.
