Conditions were ideal and the course in excellent order on October 4th, when the men played the final round of the President's Trophy competition. Some good scores were recorded aiid there were three handicap reductions, E. Pearse beihg reduced two strokes and qualifying for senior status. D. Woodward and E. Edwards were reduced one stroke each. The President's Trophy was won by E. Ryan with a total score of 266 for the four best medal rounds. E. Pearse was secohd, 271, and D. Woodward third, 273. The final of the Captain's Trophy played between Col. Robinson and J. Miles, was won by Miles at the 19th. The semi-final of the Senior Championship between L. Stephenson and K. E. Young was played on Saturday 3rd, Young winning three and one. This leaves L. Cheal and Young to contest the final. Of the four players who reached the semi-finals this season, K. Rameka who was beaten by Cheal, was the only one to have won the senior championship in the past. The Junior Championship has also reached the final stage, with E. Pearse playing E. Ryan. Ladies' Golf. On Thursday, Ooctober 1st, the Ladies played the last round of the Stableford competition, which has been running throughout the season, Mrs Colbeck winning the round with 35 points. Mrs Young scored 32, Mrs Ryan 31 and Mrs Hullten 29. Mrs Colbeck thus won the Stableford Trophy. On Sunday 4th, Mrs Hullten and Mrs Vedder played the first round of the Ladies Championship, the result being a win for Mrs Hullten four and two. Mrs Irving and Mrs Young played a Winter Cup match, Mrs Young being the winner. On October 15th the Ladies will play a sealed medal competition.
