MAJESTIC THEATRE

"A Queen is Crowned," the Coronation film for which everyone has been waiting, comes to Taupo on Tuesday next when there will be a special school matinee and an evening performance. Further exhibitions will be given on Thursday when the matinee will be open to the general public. This is the only full length Technicolor film of the wonderful pageantry of the Crowning of Queen Elizabeth II. In "Moonlight Bay," which is to be seen at the Majestic tomorrow, Saturday, the song stars Doris Day, Gordon MacRae and Jack Smith team up to sing popular tunes of yesterday and today. On Monday will be seen "The Cat and the Canary," a chilly thriller to keep you on tenterhooks until the identity of the 'Cat' is revealed. The film on Wednesday next is "Harriett Craig," based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning play "Craig's Wife" by George Kelly. Joan Crawford in the title role plays one of the greatest roles in her screen career. Next Friday's picture "Blue Grass of Kentucky," is a romance of the racing world, set in the lush pastures of America's great horse racing country. "Show Boat" is probably the most popular of all American musical comedies, and although M. G. M's version to be seen on Saturday next week is not the first screen production it does provide the first in Technicolor. The cast is a strong one, including Kathryn, Grayson, Ava Gardner, Howard Keel and Joe E. Brown.
