PLAYS IN PROSPECT

Mr A. Kennedy, secretary of the Taupo Dramatic Society, reports that at the first committee meeting of the Society 's second year, held on Friday last, it was decided to produce a three-act comedy, of which performances would be given on November 12th and 13th. The next play reading would be held in Rickit's Hall on Wednesday 23rd September, and plans for the current year would be finalised at the October committee meeting. The Committee decided to take advantage of the N.Z. Drama Council's scheme for lectures on stagecraft and it was hoped to arrange a visit from an instructor before the November play production. It was also decided to afflliate with the British Drama League, which would enable use to be made of the League's library service. It is hoped that the Society may participate in the League's next drama competition. The Committee decided to publish a quarterly news letter for members, as suggested by the outgoing comittee, and appointed Col. J. D. Swan as editor.
