FIRE BRIGADE BALL
ANNUAL FUNCTION Many dancers gathered at Rickit's Hall on Saturday, August 21st, for the annual ball of the Taupo Volunteer Fire Brigade. Messrs R. Douglas and J. O'Toole were masters of ceremonies, and Tom Isaac's orchestra provided the music. The hall was gay with greenery and streamers, particular attention having been paid to the ceiling which was decorated with multicoloured streamers surrounding a mass of balloons which were released for the balloon dance. The Brigade members wore their trim new uniforms. The lavish supper was another feather in the cap of Mrs T. Isaacs, who had gone to great trouble to provide a very tasty buffet supper served in most attractive manner. Among those present were Mrs S. Pearce, gold and black brocade jacket and black skirt; Mrs R. Douglass, fuschia shot taffeta; Mrs L. Smith, white blouse, black circular skirt; Miss M. Ellin, white tulle over satin, Mrs M. Tierney, lavender embossed taffeta with matching mittens; Miss S. Hemotata, blue nylon net over sharkskin; Miss M. Rameka, white guipure lace bodice with tulle skirt trimmed with diamante studs; Mrs N. Wallace, bottle green faconne; Mrs K. Rameka, black cloque; Mrs Percival, black moire faille with diamante buttons; Mrs D. Brown, sequin trimmed ruby velvet jacket and black skirt; Miss C. Armishaw, rust faconne. Mrs Harding, white crepe romaine with red corsage; Miss B. Harnett, teal blue lace gown with mittens to match; Miss J. Murdock, of Napier, rose pink taffeta; Miss Gill (Napier), blue hailstone net with velvet trim; Mrs T. Couper, floral silk jacket with deep mauve skirt; Mrs Lind, pastel pink everglaze; Mrs H. Harnett, turquoise taffeta; Mrs M. K. Turei (Auckland) green and gold spotted tie silk, Mrs J. O'Toole, scarlet corded silk with matching jacket; Mrs P. Ford, blue and white shanfaille. Mrs A.
