WOMEN'S INSTITUTE MEETING

There was a good attendance at the monthly meeting of the Taupo Women's Institute on Wednesday, August 19. Arrangements were maie for the twentieth birthday party of the Institute to take the form of a social dance held on Saturday, September 26. It was also decided to hire a bus to enable members to attend the seventh birthday party of the Broadlands Institute on September 17. The Secretary was instructed to write to CORSO, Wellington, asking for the name of a Greek village to which to send a parcel of goods (see report in this issue "Help For Greeks,'). Competitions for the month were won as follows: Cluster, Mrs Stowe; Bloom, Miss McClymont; Vegetable, Mrs Smith; box of home-mada sweets, Miss McClymont; decorative bowl without flowers, Mrs Glass; jar of marmalade, Mrs Stowe. The raffle was won by Mrs Glass.
