PRIMARY SCHOOL SPORT
REPS. PLAY ROTORUA The Taupo District Primary Schools' representative basketball and J Rugby football teams travelled to Rotorua on Saturday last to play the Rotorua District representative teams. The weather was very wet, and the girls' basketball match had to be played on an indoor court. This j game resulted in a win for Rotorua, J 7__6, after very even play. Taupo's shooting was better than their opponent's, Rotorua having 13 shots to Taupo's 9. For Taupo reps. j Jennifer Pitiroi (Taupo), Margaret Blake (Waitahanui) and E. Murphy (Maroa) were the most promising. The football match was played as a curtainraiser to the Peace Cup game, Matamata v. Rotorua at Arawa Park The gro/nd was waterlogged and played in continuous rain, Rotorua winning by 23 to nil. The Taupo boys had their first experience ot playing in mud, being used to the hard all-weather Taupo pumice surface. Toi Rameka and Lawrence Pitiroi at half and second five-eighths respectively, were the most promising players, with M. Gordine promment in the forwards. t Both teams had lunch at the Blue Baths, and afternoon tea and hot baths were provided for the boys by i the Rotorua Rugby Union.
