MUNICIPAL POWER SCHEME

As decided at the last meeting of the Taupo Town Board, a deputation consisting of Mr J. E. Story, Chairman, Col. J. D. Swan, DeputyChairman, Mr W., T. Irvine, member, and Mr Lloyd Mandeno, Engineer, last week went to Wellington in connection with matters concerning the Town Board's power scheme. Arrangements were made so that the loan moneys under the recently authorised supplementary loan will be available when the necessary formalities in connection therewith have been finalised. The deputation interviewed Mr A. E. Davenport, General Manager of the State Hydro-electric Department in connection with a number of technical matters, and Mr R. W. Marshall, General Manager of the Tourist and Publicity Department. The matter of the supply of electric power to the Hotel Wairakei was gone into with Mr Marshall, and conclusions satisfactory to both parties were reached on all details.
