MAJESTIC THEATRE

Robert Mitchum and Ava Gardner star at the Majestic tonight, Wednes-t day, July 29, in "Mr Forbidden Past," a romantic drama set in glamourous New Orleans. On Friday, July 31, Lassie, M.G.M.'s popular collie star, is seen at the Majestic as Shep, the devoted companion of the grizzled gold prospector, Jonathan (Paui (Paul Kelly), in the Technicolour film "Painted Hills" which is full of new Lassie thrills. This is a moving story in which this great favourite defies death on a perilous journey across the plains, rescues her beloved master from sure death and takes part in a violent fight to the finish with a mad killer. At both matinee and evening shows on Saturday the breezy musical comedy ^Fine and Dandy" is produced by Louis F. Edelrnan, who was.also responsible for aYankee, Doodle, Dandy'' and "Tis is the Army." Some of the popular numbers in this film are "By the Kissing Rock," "You Love Me," "Long Before I Knew You" and "It's Raining Sundrops." "The Iroquois Trail" is a story of treachery in battles with the French on the trail which links St. Lawrence and Hudson River Valleys. The film will be shown on Monday, August 3 and features a strong cast, including George Montgomery, Brenda Marshall, Glen Langa, Reginald Denny, Monte Blue, Sheldon Leonard and Paul Cavanagh. "Br ight Victory" is a tender romanee set amongst the strife in war-time North Africa. The hero, blinded in battle, is played by Arthur Kennedy who offers an emotionally stirring portrayal of a man facing a life of darkness. This picture will be seen on Wednesday, August 5.
