PARTIES FOR BRIDE-TO-BE
An enjoyable "pantry afternoon" ?was held on (Monday of last week at •Mrs W. Andejrson's residence, "Longbeach/* Mere Road, in honour of Miss *Toy Smith, the hostesses being Mesiiames Anderson, E. Gray and J. Keating Srnith. The lounge was decor&ted with hydrangeas, stock and jdaphne* Musical items included two isongs by Miss Smith, her mother, Mrs E. T. Smith, aeting as aecompanist, and a piano solo by Mcs Ander]bo n. Following a delightful aftertioon tea the bride-to-be opened her g^ift parcels, disclosing a wide variety of goods for the pantry. Musical tionours were accorded Miss Smith, who responded with thanks to the lio&tes&es and guests for their gifts and good wishes. / . Miss Smith wore pastel pink jumper Imd brown corduroy skirt; Mrs E. T. 3s*nth, Air Force blue herring-bone | suit and pink jumpeir; Mrs Anderson, |>astel grey satin-backed crepe frock; Mrs Keating Smith, floral Canadian #repe; Mrs E. Grey, smart dusky pink hand-knitted frock. Those pr,es~ ent were: — Mrs J. Story, Miss E. ■Rickit, Mrs J. C. Young, Mrs C. E. Baker, Mrs J. Woodward, Mrs R. Hartiett, Mrs B. Airmstrong, Mrs W. B. On% Mrs Watson, Mrs E. Wright. !An apology was received from Mrs T„ Gillies. » Gift Evening. On. Tuesday evening of last week a most entertaining gift • evening for Miss Smith, arranged by the Misses Marie Rickit and Mar- : garet Smith, took place in th.e supper I'oorn at Rickit's Hall. Several - eompetitions wetre held, oue, "Indentifying the Mystery Parcels" in the ■dark, panducing much hilarity. Competition winners were Miss E. Rickit, Mrs T. Wall ad Mrs V. Rudnicki. Following* supper the gift parcels were opened, and the guest of honour expressed her appreciation in a neat little speech. Miss Joy Smith wore a silvery grey Everglaze frock; Miss M. Rickit, maro on and black poplin frock; Miss 31. 'Smith, nayy and white checked worsted frock. Those present were Miss E. Rickit, Miss S. Liyesey, Mesdames J. E. Story, T. Wall, S. Pearse, B. Armstrong, V. , Rudnicki, D. Holmes, N. Ogden, I). Baker, T. Rickit.
