NEW TONGARIRO BRIDGE
WELLINGTON FIRM TO BIJILD A contract for a new bridge over the Tongariro River at Tuirangi, replacing the present well-known bridge ;with an angle in it, has been let to the Wilkins and Davies Construction Co. Ltd., of Wellington. It is hoped to have the work colnpleted in aboiit eighteen months. The contraetors, who also have the Cdntract fotr Rongatai Airport, have Gdmmeneed work on the establishment of a carnp, north of the present bridge, to house twenty or more employees. The new bridge will follow the line of the original bridge, washed away many yeatrs ago by flood, crossing the river from the existing southern por- 1 tion. A Bailey bridge will be thrown from the southern bank to the middle of the centre span duaing construction of the new bridge. The work is ander the supervision of \Mr A. M. McConneil. i
