WOMEN'S INSTITUTE MEETING
INTERESTING FILM PROGRAMME Tliere was a good attendance of T^a*nd public &t a showing of Health Films following the monthly meeting of the Taupo Women's Institute on Wednesday last. Miss Quested, Ihm! Department, Hamilton, and Miss McMillan, District Nurse. arranged the programme, which compnsed a ballet film starring Margot Fonteyn, a film stressing the need for early treatment of cancer, another on education for aduit girls and a beautiful film of K.ew Gardens, the diry h umour of the accompanying coiumenai y I>elng greatly appreciated. Arrangements were made at the Institute meeting to enable members to attend the Bnthday Meeting of the Waipa Institutes on Wednesday, July lst. A bus will leave Taupo at 11 a.m. and those wishing to attend should foir ward their names to Mrs Arnold. A g,enerous response was reported to the appeal for materials for Malayan Women s Institutes. The Bring-and uy Stall on the previous Saturday was successful. Raffles were won by Jocelyn Skeen, a doll; Mrs Kirk, box of chocolates; Mrs Reed wireless set donated by Mrs Miles; Orina Tatana, stoekings. Two new members, Mrs Stanley and Mrs. Milford we>e welcomed to the meeting. Tn the competition, Unusua] Flower Arrangements, Mrs Stowe and Miss Stowe won first and second prize respectively with exquisite entries. Mrs Stowe's was a replica of Queen Elizah.eth II in Coa'o nation robes, with gown of white hydrangea and cloak oi purple heather, and Miss Stowe's a miniature Coronation coach decorated with golden wattle blooms. Mrs J, Taylor took first prizes for best vege^ table and loaf of bread. Th,e Best Bloom was won by Mrs Stowe, who tied with Mrs Glass in the Best Spray competition.
