TWO BRANCHES UNITED Mr J. L. Burge, secretary, reports that a meeting of members of the N.Z. Labouir Party was held in Rickit's Hall, Taupo, at 7.30 p.m., on Wednesday, May 27th., for th(e purpose of Uniting all members in the Taupo district in one body. There was a good attendance, and complete agreement was shown by all. As a result of th,e meeting the original Taupo Biranch, and the Branch recently formed from amongst the Geothermal Project workeirs,« have now merged so that Taupo now has a single united Branch. The Presidents of the previous Branches, Messrs C. Vedder and G. Lafferty, addir.essed the meeting empha.' ising the reed for tearn work and their ^dling ^ss to su. pori ihe re-formed Branch in eveiry possible way. Messrs P. Silva and J. Burge spoke briefly on their attendance at the Labour Representation Committee meeting at Rotorua, and Messrs J. Burge and L. W. Murphy were elected as delegates to the forth-com-ing L. R. C. meeting at Mangakino on .June 21st.
Election of Offieers. • * Offieers were elected as follows: — President, Mr J. M. Staniey; VicePresident, Mr C. J. Stevenson; Secre-tary-Treasureir, Mr J. L. Burge. Executive: — Messrs P. Silva, L. W. Murphy, M. Gibbons, W. A. Hardin.g, E. Day. Trustees: — Messrs M. Gibbons and L. W. Murphy. Messrs C. Vedder and G. Lafferty declined nornination to the Executiv.e, both setting forward sound reasons for so doing, but expiressed full support for those elected. In declining nomination on behalf of Mrs K. Reid, who was unavoidably abset, Mr Vedd,er stated that she felt it was timo1 for some of the "new blood" to have their chance of taking an active part in the Party's affaiirs locallv.
Membership Increasing. Nominations for membership are flowing steadily in, and it is anticipated that the Branch wll in the near futuire have a greater membership than at any previous time. With the experience and loyalty of suc'h as Mrs Reid, to name but? one of the original members, and the enthusiasm of the newcomers from amongst Geothermal and Mill workers, the prospect s for the local Branch look very feright indeed. Notice of the next General Meeting of the Branch appears elsewhere in this issue.
