WOMEN'S INSTITUE MEETING
At tlie monthly meeting of the Taupo Women's Institute, 011 May 20th, an appeal was made to members to bring materials to the next meeting from which a parcel could be made up of items for use in demonstrations amongst over a hundred Institutes in Malaya. Members were also asked to follows the example of a South Island organisation and knit twelve inch peggy squar.es for the needy in Europe. Mrs Stott reported - on the annual meeting of the Rotofaa Federation, stressing the appeai of Mrs Clayton, retiring presidentfor Institutes to keep up visits to the sick in hospital. Mrs Clayton was pre sented a silk Chinese embroidered handkerehief from the Taupo Institute. An important event at the Federation meeting was the presentatation to Mrs E. Glass, late president of the Taupo Branch of the Institute^ gold badge for long service. The Institute are to hold a bring-and-buy on Saturday, June 13, and members are urged to bring their friends. Mrs Arnold won a competition for an article made from half a yard of material, and Mrs Colev one for an eggless fruit eake, while Mrs Stowe received the award for the best spray and Miss Sow for the best bloom.
