new sister in charge

Sister Maisie Quaele, who has been appointed to take charge of the Presbyterian Maori t Mission Station at Turangi, was welcomed to the district at the Hirangi marae on Sunday, April 26th. She was inducted at a service during the afternoon, by the Rt. Rev J. G. Laughton C.M.G.. Superintendent of Maori Missions, assisted by the other visiting clergy. A large number of local residents were present as well as a large number of visitors from Taupo, Edgecumbe, Taumarunui and Ohope, among whom, in addition to the Rt. Rev. J, G. Laughton and Mrs Laughton, wrere Sister Edith, formerly in charge at Turangi, the Rev. Kihoro Te Puawhe and Mrs Te Puawhe, the Rev. Hemi Potatau and Mrs Potatau, the Rev. A. J. E. Grange and Mrs Orange, and the Rev. J. H. Starnes. Speec'hes of welcome were made by Mr P. Alfred Grace, O.B.E., Mr Maxwell Te Rangi, Mr Rangiita Waaka and Mr George Hallett, all of whom assured the new missionary of their help and support in her work, while among the visitors who made speeches were the Rt. Rev. J. * G. Laughton, and the Revs. Kihoro Te Puawhe, Hemi Potatau, and J. H, j$tarnes. After the welcome on the tnarae, the ladies of the district proyided lunch, and Sister Maisie met ipcal residents. Prior to her present appointment she had been stationed for some time at Te Teko.
