MOTOR CYCLE TRIALS

RELIABILITY CONTEST Conditions in the Waikato were very bad indeed for the start of the Hamilton Motor Cycle Club's 1953 reliability trial for the Chrysler Cup on Saturdav last. As a result the number of starters for this contest was only 28. The main purpose of the trial was to test the capacity of the inachines. The route followed from Hamilton via Kihikihi, Arapuni, Putaruru, Atiamuri and Waiotapu and the riders arrived in Taupo shortly after 4 p.m. Cvcles were stored at Buckleigh's Garage and the riders stayed cvei night at the Spa and Terraces I Hotels arid at Tonga Cabms. The j r^turn journey was commenced at 9 a.m. on Sunday. The cycles used in the trial ranged from ti h.p. two stroke to 6 h.p. twin cylinder maehines and the trial included special quick starting and braking tests.
