LATE MR ANDREW ROSSIE
ELINGAMITE WRECK SURVIVOR V An old identity of the Taupo district, Mr Andrew Rossie, died in Rotorua on Tuesday of last week, aged! ninety-three. Mr Rossie came to Taupo twenty-eight years ago, and: for some time worked with goveriiment survey parties in different parte ! of the district. Later he wTas for j some time well known to a large | number of people as custodian of the i A.C. Baths of Taupo. Mr Rossie | first came to New Zealand from f Australia to take a position with the Auckland Tramway Company in the early days of the electric tram serwice^ in that city. He was a passenger on the iil-fated steamei Elihgamite when she was wrecked with much loss of life at the Three Kings Islands, and: was one of fiv# s-urvivors from a raft that drifted for manv days. Mr Rossie's funeral took place ac Taupo on Thursday of last week, leaving for the Taupo cemeterr from St. Andrew -s cihurch. T'hewY was a representative gathering of oM friends of the deceased. The Rev. C. G. G. Salt took the service a-t the church and officiated at tke graveside.
