N.Z. LABOUR PARTY
TAUPO BRANCH FORMED A report received by the Times on Saturduy last, April 4th.. from Mr J. L, Burge, states that at a meeting convened by Messrs P. SHva and J. L. Burge and held in the Public Works Camp, Taupo, at 8 p.m. on March \ 5th., it was decided that a branch of the Labour Pasrty be formed in. Taupo and that it should be known as the Taupo Branch, N.Z. Labour Party. Among those present were representatives from the Rotorua L,R„C. and Rotorua District Branches of the N.Z. Labour Party. The following officers were elected: — Chairman, Mr P. Silva, who agreed to accept nomination pro tem, but stated that he would resign the position at the general meeting when nomiixations would be calied to fill the vacancy. Vice-Chairman, Mr T. W. Miirphy; S ecr etary- Treasr.rer, Mr J. L. Burge; Executive, Messrs C. J. Steventon, M. Gibbons, C. Trethowen E. Day, F. E. Reia. Trustees, T. W. Murphy, M. Gibbons The report states that the National Secretary N.Z. Labour Party, was informed of the formation of the Branch, and of its name, and that recognition and approval have since been received from him by the Branch Secretary. As advertised elsewh^re in our columns a general meeting* has been calied for tomorrow night, Thursday 9th., in Rickit's Hall at 8 p.m.
