The death of Queen Mary marks the end of an era of which she may in a real sense be regarded as the symbol. Through one of the periods of greatest change in history she herself, in devotion to duty, in fortitude through national and personal trials and calamities, and in sympathetic understanding of the problems of others was unchanging. An age has ended, but the greatness of future leaders will be measured by the manner in which they follow the ideals and principles exemplified in the life of the late Queen.
