Williamson, with Mr Les Alvey, mechanic, einployed in the garage itself. During the day the office was, as usual, open during business hours, and in the natural course of even-ts,. with Mr Williamson attending to customers and Mr Alvey engaged in the garage, it was at odd times unattended. It was not until about 7 p.m. that it was known that any~' thing was amiss. It was theri found that a canvas bag containing the notes and cheques mentioned hacf been emptied of its contents. This bag was kept in a drawer in the ofhce, and the thief after removmg the contents had replaced the bag in the drawer. With the noise of the engdne and machinery in the garage itself it would not be possible to hear an intruder in the office from the garage. Police investigations are coninuing.
