TURANGI-TOKAANU ANGLING
14 Ib. Brown Trout Taken (Own Correspondent) . March 19th. Although large numbers of iish have' at times been seen off the mouths, fishing has not been easy and has been spasmodic. Night and early morning fishing has paid off at the Delta where good fishing has been had in the shallows behind the boats. There has been a very marked improvement in the condition of fish taken and a very noticeahle increase in the number of brown trout in Tongariro. One well known angler Ma* Brown, secured a limit catch oi brown trout one night, including oue which was 14 lbs. The Kuratau has not been fishing well, t hough many fish have been seen. off the mouth, and the lalling lake level may improve things here. The Whareroa has not fished well, but the Wanganui, though patchy, .has been fairly good both early and late. The T auran ga -Taupo mouth has given some exeellent early morning fishing though inclined to be patchy. Rain is wanted before any great improvement can be expected in the rivers. Even so, quite a number of jfish. are being taken, and a great imany can be seen in the resting pools. Warning To Boat Owners Boat owners with craft moored in the vicinity of the Tokaanu Wharf would be well advised to check over their craft, as otherwise with the tremendous growtb of weeds in this area, combined with the falling* lake level, they will be liable to find them ahigh and dsry."
