TAUPO CLUB COMPETITORS Friday, Feb. 27. The Progressive Fours eompetition is arousing great interest among Taupo Bowling Club members. Four gold roosters to be held annually have been presented by the Stepbenson Trading Co. Ltd., for this event oue each to go to the lead, Nos. 2 and 3 and the skip securing highest points for -the season. Play last week-end resulted as follows: — Mrs Galkin, Messrs Laurie, Fulljames, MfcMillan 22 v. Logan, Miss Manning, Mrs McMillan, Stanley, 19; Howie, J. Hutchins, Sheldon, E. T. Smith 28 v. Murphy, Mahanga, J. H. sMjarlow, Baldwin 6; Mrs Clayworth, Messrs T. McDonald, T. Taylor, C. McLean, 20 v. B. Harnett, Mrs Stanley, Motion, Clayworth 16; J. Wells 'Hill, Baumberg, Pennycook 22 v. Mrs Lougb, Messrs Peart, A. McLean, Gordon, Fraser 12. In the eompetition for the Clayworth Buttons, presented by Mr W. Oayworth of Mangakino for eompetition between senior pairs, the ojiginal holders Messrs A. McLean (Secretary) and G. S. Anchor were challenged and defeated by Messrs E. H. Rowands and D. W. Mills. Cups and Card Evenings. 1 he first round in the Championship eompetitions for Open Pairs, Senior Singles and Junior Singles is now well under way. The Club has three fine trophies for annual eompetition in the J. D. Swan Cup, presented by Col. J. D. Swan for Open Pairs, the Milne Cup presented by Mf E. Milne of Wanganui for the Senior Singles and won last year by Mr C. MeLean, and the Lerew Cup, presented by Mr W. Lerew of Auckland and formerly 0f Taupo, for the Veterans Singles. Veterans qualify foy being 65 years of age or over, -and this eompetition is a handicap oue. The Bowling Club is now running weekly card evenings in Riekiils HaJI when 500 is played every Thursday commeneing at 7.30 p.m. Proceeds go to the Club funds. The e e enings are open to all who enjoy a good game of eards and members are urged to help the Club by attendmg whenever possible and to remind ifcesr friends of the pleasant entertamment available.
