ANGLING NEWS
— Friday, Feb. 13th. Western Bays. — During the past two weeks fishing- has improved at Whakaipo, Whangamata, Waihora and Waihaha. Fly fishing at the stream mouths at Whakaipo, Whaihora and Waihaha has usually been good, and Whangamata has provided better trolling than previously. Fly fishing at the three bays mentioned has yielded an average of about two good fish in each three taken. While evening fishing has been the best, a number of anglers who have fished steadily have done quite well during the day. Waitahanui. — Fishing has not been partieularly good at Waitahanui in the past fortnight. Averages are difficult to estimate but about one really good fish in each three taken is probably near the mark. The stream was reasonahly clear of pumice most. of the period but further lots of pumice debris came down during the past day or two. This trouble has been partieularly bad this season, the debris coming from a slipping bank about three miles up stream. It is a serious threat to the fishing and it remains to oe seen what can be done to remedy matters.
