MAIN STREET BUILDING PROGRESS
EIGHT CONCRETE SHOPS Tender.s have been invited by the architects M-essrs A. E. & L. G. Williams, Napier, for a block of eight reinforced concrete shops to be ereeted by Messrs Taupo Properties Ltd., on their property in Tongariro Street, hetween Orr's Buildings and the Busy Corner Store. The plans provide for a attractive looking block, wdthcontinuous veranda. Gne of the shops will be occupied by Mr E. T. Smith's Taupo Meat Supply, one by Mr Alan McLean's onercery business and an~ other by Mr lar. Logan, Gunsmith and Fishing Tackle dealer. It is planned to let shops for a number of different businesses in order to make the newr block a more or less complete self-contained shopping area. The building' should make another notable advance in the modernisation of the main street. The prcmises in Orr's Buildings at present occupted by Mr Alan McLean are to be occupied by ihe Bank of New Zealand and will be incorporated with their present premises. During the construction of ihe new block Mr Ian Logan 's business will be transferred temporarily to a near-by site.
