( Coi respondent)
jTurangi-Tokaaiiu. January 29th., 1953 Thundery weather has apparently put the fish off temporarily. However, with fin-e pc-ridds, the Delta has yielded good fish, including several' bst wepn 6 ancl 8 pounds. There are signs of good smelting conditions returnin-g with the fine weather. I ne Kuratau has not fished as well as.usua1 but the mouth is now drawirtg more fish and some smelting is taking place. The Whareroa has also been off colour but is largely influenced by the weather and should now improve. River fishing is still hard, and though some fresh-run fish are being' taken, no great improvement in the river may be expected until ihe usual February-March runs. The Waimarin o and Wai otaika mouths are yielding some splendid fish, and, as usnial, providing excellent late fishing with a few brown thrown in.
