MATCH BETWEEN TAUPO TEAMS

As no opposing team was available to play the Taupo Cricket Club on Jaruary 18 ti. a pick-up game was played between tearns eaptained by the Club Captain A. J. Collett and G. A. Ac res. The match resulted in a victory for Collett's XI by 34 •runs. Acres* XI batted first and opened disastrously with the loss of three wickets for eight runs. The fourth fell at 16 and 6 were out with only 48 runs in the hook. Then came a fine recovbry by Sunnex who played a very well judged knock and G. Blake of Waitahanui who added a valuable 78 in partnership and made the score look fmuch more reasonahle. IBunnex was quietened: somewhat when Collett and Dixon took up the attack and shortly before the luncheon adjournment he lost patience and was caught for 57. Blake went on to complete a stylish 41 not out when the inningsi closed for 145. Dixon and, Collett bowled accurately and inexpensWely. The innings of Collett's XI was ' mainly distinguished by a partnership of 60 between a partnership of 60 between Alan Clarke and ihe captain.
