INJURED ON ACTIVE SERVICE
GUNNER HITIRI MANIOPOTO In a letter to the Editor of the Taupo T'imes, Mrs Hefma and Mr Mamaura Maniopoto, of Te Rangi ita, wish publicly to thank all relatives and friends, who very kmdly extended to them their sincere sympafhy in their deep anxiety ovfetrt their eldest son's, Gunner Hitiri 206690, very serious injury received in a road accident, on Active Service in Horea. Also they thank all for their kind wishes for his speedy recovery. "We received word from Army Headquarters on Novemiber 27th(.> 1952" they write, "that our boy had been seriously injured in a road accident, with a compound fracture of the skuil, and was pJaced on the dangerously ill list. He was on that list for five to six days, and then was placedl >n the seriously ill list. "On December 8th., further word was received, that !h© was removed from the seriously ill list. He has since made a very good rcovery, and we are very happy and pleased! to notify all kind relatives and friends, that we received! word yesterday, that he was expected to .leave Japan for home on January 17th., and we will be notified of the day of his arrival ..." | The Taupo Times adds its congratulations to the Maniopoto family on their son's recovery, and regrets that ext-reme pressure on space their letter has been condensed.
