SUMMER FLOWERS

The Taupo Horticultural and Beautifying Society's Summer snow, held at Rickit's Hall on Saturday last January 10th., was considered by those who attended to be a very good display in all classes. Mr J. D. Swan, on behalf of the Town Board, formally opened Ihe show. Awards. The awards were as follows: — Section B, Giadioli, (Open Class) — Mrs L. Stcpbenson, lOpts. 1; Mrs R. H. Le Pine, 7 pts., 2; Mrs T. Price, 5 pts., 3. Novice CJass- — Miss K. 0. Lewis, Champion Bloom, 1; Mrs Stowe, 4 pts., 2nd. Section B. Cut Flowers — Mrs T. Kent, 27 pts., 1; Mr F. Colson, 25 pts., 2; Mrs Duthie, 22 pts., 3; Mrs Stowe and Mrs Stephenson, 13 pts. each, 4. The special prize for the best exhibit in this class was- awarded to Mrs Logan. Section C. /Decorative exhibits — Mrs Duthie, 17 pts., 1; Mrs Logan, 9 pts., 2; Mrs Peacock, 6 pts., 3. Special award for best exhibit, Mrs Duthie . Section D. Pot Plants and Shrubs —Miss MeKelvie, Mrs E. Young, and Miss J. . Branson were equal with 3 points each. On a draw Miss MeKelvie was placed first. Section E. Children'# Class.
