Comedies and Thrillers Comedies and thrillers are the Mghlights of the coming week's features at the Majestic Theatre, Taupo. Tomorrow night (Thursday), will be presented Ann Blyth and Mark Stevens in a Univefsal fun-makeir, "Kate Did It" — a laugh with every scanda-.j kms second. There is to be a doublefeature pro- J gramme on Frklay. "Six-Gun Mesa,"j as the title proclaims is a red-blood-ed Western, with Johnny Mack Brown and Gail Davis and terrorist gangs holding up a frontier town. The companion feature is "Bunka Squad," which is more >or less a surprise packet for the audience. A Damon Runyon story supplies the framework of Bob Hope's latest Paramount scream, "The Lemon Drop Kid," featured for screening on Saturday. With Bob is Marilyn Maxwell. Also in the cast are Lloyd Nolan and Jane Maxwell. Monday's feature is a hair-raiser ' called "The Thing," produced by Howard Hawk, a weird tale of a fearsome invader cornered in the Arctic by Seientists. The cast in this R.K.O. thriller is heacled. by Kenneth! Tobey and Margaret Sheridan. The producers are Winchester Pictures Corporation. "September A^fair,,, Tuesday's fea- 1 ture, is a Paramount emotional play with an exotic setting starring Joan Fontaine, Joseph Cotten, and Francoise Rosay. The setting is the romantic Island of Capri in the Mediterranean. An M-G-M comedy, "Watch the Birdie," will provide Wednesday's audience with some real rib-ticklers. The star is Red Skelton, with Arlenej Dahl and Ann Miller as the leadingl suppoits.
