ENJOYABLE CHRISTMAS PARTY Christmastide being a recognised festival for young folk, the Taupo Women's Institute celebrated its advent by giving a Christmas Party for the children on Wednesday, December 17th at Rickets Hall., Ovei 60 adults and a large gathering of children were present and everyone had an enjoyable time. A beautiful Christmas eake was

made for the occasion by Mrs Lawrence, Who also presented it. Then followed a play, "The Old Women Who Lived fn the Shoe." Mrs P. Fletcher had the name part, and also in the cast were Mrs J. Taylor, Mrs T. Taylor, Mrs Arnold, Mrs Lough, and Miss McClymont. Mrs J. R. Osborne took the reading, and a number of children took part. The three little Meki girls sang a carol. An interesting feature of the afternoon programme was the competition. A Basket of Fiowers, arranged by the Institute Gardening Cirele, the prizes for which were donated by Mrs King. Awards: Mrs Glass i; Mrs Stowe 2; Mrs J. Taylor 3. Mrs King, who is convenor of the circie, was the recipient of a Christmas gift from the members. Then followed afternoon tea, which was a f east of good things on a sumptuous scale, and members indulged in the customary exchange f of Christmas gifts. Three new members were nominated for election. 0
