The children of Primer 4, in charge of Miss Walters, presented a bracket of songs. Christmas Garols were sung by the pupils of Forms I and II, under the leadership of Mr Osborne. The Secondary Department of laupo District Higm School has been n existence for two years, and dur- | ng this short time it has shown conj iderable growth. In 1951, its roll j m.titled it to one teacher only; in 952 it become a two-teacher Dej lariment, although as a result of general teadher-shortage it had to nake do with one for the greater oart of the year; in 1953, dt is 3xpected that the roll will exceed 51, an^l this will entitle the school to hree teachers. It is hoped that a new Secondary Department plus a Manuai and Tech-
nical Block will he built on a new site during 1953. The School Committee have ' given considerable thought and attention to this need» and everything points to a successful outcome to their endeavours. * MAROA SCHOOL At the recent prize-giving at Maroa School the pupils put on a Gymnastic display, folk dances, and tap dancing, all of which had been taught by the headmaster, Mi* Crabbe and Mrs Crabbe.
