' t' J v : • .. .. ORGANISER'S NOTES The following notes from the Organiser of the War Memorial Hall Campaign are to hand: v \ Programmes — These will be on sale on Thursday, December 18th. The Programme consists of 20 pages and gives full details of everything during the Carnival period including the programme for the Girl Guide Concert and also 'Bllthe Spirit." These programmes are number ed and on January 2nd. a lucky mimber will be drawn and the holder of the programme with that number on will receive a prize of £10. During the Carnival a flvir Spopdulix" will be around. and the first person finding him on each day with a programme in their hand will receive £1 1/-. "Blithe Spirit" — The Box Plan for this is now open to the public and tickets are available at the Carnival Office, Bank of New South Wales Building, Main Street Taupo. Residents and visitors are advised to book early for this performailce will be one of the best ever seen in Taupo. Maori Day — Advice has just been received from the Trust Board that they have donated £50 for cups and trophies to be competed for annuany for Hakas, Action Songs, Poi Dance and Stick Games by the various school children. They will also donate £10 annually for miniatures to give with these cups each year. The concert on Maori Day will be by the Te Iti-A- Motai, Mokai. - Women's Institute — Tihe sum of £53 9/» was received from the Rummage Sale and the Organiser takes this opportunity of thanking the residents who donated goods and all the members of the Women's Institute who helped to se/11 the goods which made the day such a success. Raffles — Tickets for the raffles are not selling as rapidly as expected. At the timo of going to press some of the shops had not sold 50 tickets. We would point out that all our raffles are the best value ever offered in Taupo. In the Grocery Hamper each store will have to sell 140 tickets before the Hall funds will receive any benefit and in the Christmas Raffle 500 tickets will have to be sold to pay expenses. Surprise Packets or Surprise ✓ Parcels — It has not yet been deeided whether packets or parcels will be sold, but we wish to inform the residents that there will be no rubbish in any packet or parcel sold. All the donations received from the various firms are of a very high order. A list of some of them were published in last week's "Times" and some intoday's issue. Girl Guide Review — The tickets for this are selling rapidly and seats ean be booked at The Taupo Book Club. Broadcast. — Mr Swan went to Rotorua on Monday, December 8th. and gavd a broadcast advertising Taupo and the Carnival. The same will come over the air from station 1YZ Rotorua on December 16th. at 7.15 p.m. Maori Day : Mr Reid and Mr Swan will go to Mokai, Oranui, and Maroa on Friday to arrange with the various schools about the sports. Organisers Report Speed Boat Day — The Traffic Department advised that drums painted white had to be put across the roads whioh were being closed, and. that detour notices had to be erected. Mr Logan and Mr Stevens will arrange for the drums and Mr C. Vedder is arranging to have the detour notices painted. Advertising : It was arranged to advertise in the following papers — Auckland Herald, Napier Daily Telegraph, Taranaki Daily News, Waikato Times, Bay of Plenty Times, Taihape Times, Taupo Times, Rotorua Post, Mangakino Chronicle anS Tokoroa Press. Marching Girls — It was carried that tickets be given * to the competitors of the Marching Teams for refreshments. Refreshments to be sold in refreshments tents to consist of pies, sandwiches, bread and butter, tea and soft drinks. It was resolved that the billetting of the pipe band be left in abeyance. The next executive meeting of the Taupo War Memorial Hall Association will be held. in Mr Ben Armstrong's office at 7.30 p.m. In future, the minutes of meetings will be published in the Taupo Times nnlv, and will not be circulated as hitherto.
