CHRISTMAS CARNIVAL PREPARATIONS

PROGRESS, REPORTS I > At an executive meeting of the Taupo War Memorial Hall Association held at the office of Mr Armstrong on Tuesday, November 25th., there were present: Mr W. Stevens (Chairman), Messrs I. Logan, B. Armstrong, Mrs Kent, the Organiser and Seeretary. Apologies: From Mrs Reid, Miss Wehringo, Messrs E. Wright, B. Sinclair, C. Vedder, E. Taylor and Col. Barton. The Chairman advised that he had not finished with Mr Taylor with reference to spreading the pumice for the launching of Speed Boats on the day of the Regatta but this would be fixed at an early date. The Organiser renorted that Mr Macnamara of the Internal Affairs Department had approved for the boats being launched at this point. ' A letter was received from the Tauranga Pir>e Band regretting they would be unable to attend the Carnival and sugge?ting the Rotorua Pine Band. The Organiser was authorisM to ap^ijoach Rotorua. New Zealand Road Services advised that thev were prenarod to run buses if warranted and that they would he urepared to di'scuss the matfer further. The Organiser was authorised to finalise the matter with them. prganiser's Report. The Organiser renorted that a meeting of the fnll Committee -had been called for Monday, December 1st. at Rickit's Hall and that any memher of the Public who were pre-^ pa^ed to assist during the Carnival we^e invited to attend and be again pointed out that if ihe Carnival was to he a suceess we must have a lot of helners. The Organiser reported that the Police hhd given authority to p-o ahead with the printing of the RafFle Tickets and that these together with the main post-ers should be in Taupo on Wednesday, November 25th. The draft of the 20 page; programme was then submitted and annroved and the Chairman advised that he would annroach the BusinessmenV Association to see what ;advertising they were prepared to take in the Programme. Mokai Maori Youth Club. The Organiser reported that Father - de Bree had advised that this Club would be prepared to put on a Conon the evening of the Maori Day. At a further executive meeting held at the residence of Mr Swan on Tuesday, December 2nd., there wpre present: Mr W. Stevens (Chairman), Messrs I. Logan, C. Vedder, Mesdames K. Reid, S. \Kent, Miss Wehringo, the organiser and Seeretary. Apologies: From Messrs E. Wright, B. Armstrong, E. Taylor, B. Sinclair, Col. Barton. Rotorua Pipe Band advised that it had been authorised that a car load of five jilayers will come Over to Taupo by 10.30 a.m. for the Marching. They would like if possible to be billetted. Striped Tents: It was moved and seconded that we bid for five striped tents at an Auction in Napier. Mr Stevens was left to arrange the matter. Catering: . It was moved and seconded that wa should aecept Messrs Haynes Catering kind offer to loan us cups and saucers and we paving the freight. . Organiser reported that duriuo* h's visit to Rotorua he saw Mr M^MTan in connection with the Marching Teams and it was moved an-y seconded that this Committee adyTse the Taupo Marching " Association that the marching for the eom-etm- Marc'hin* .Teams should at 1.20 p.m. from the Picture Tbe°tre, Fr:dav, January 2nd., 1953, He also renorted that the broadcasting station at Rotorua were going to P*ive us three minutes time on°the air.
