Activities at Ngauruhoe was observed from Taupo on tSaturday ■and Sunday afternoons when ash laden column was ibeing tlirown up to a height of some 5,000 feet above the summit. A new vent has apparently be formed a little to the left centre of the cone as seen from Taupo. The m a i n vent since the 1949 eruption was at the extreme right hand of the summit viewed from Taupo. Information from National Pank confirms this being to the effect that the aetivity was coming from its usual position.
