FIRE BRIGADE ANNUAL MEETING The monthly and the annual general meeting of the Tokaanu Fire Brig;ade was held on Tnesday evening*, November 18th. in Ford^s Store, Tokaanu. The Superintendent, Mr Sutherland was in the chair and the following were present: Messrs H. B. Proctor, V. J. Ford, A. Maracich, A. (^rithington, Ml - Gampbell, H. Gee, P. Dempsey and B. F. Edkins, Secretary., Apologies for absence were received from Messrs F. HUI, H. Bixton, M. Chibba, and the Rev. Father Aarts. A circular was received from the Hastings Fire Brigade asking if any of the Fire Brigade members were likely to attend the U.F.B.A. Championship Competitions and Conference. It was decided that none of the members would be able to attend this gathering*.
Nominations were cal.led for Sup erintenfden t, Deputy iSuperintendent, Secretary, and foreman. Elected: — Superintendent-— Mr Sutherland. Deputy Superintendent— Mr H. B. Proctor. Secretary— Mr B. F. Edkins. Foreman— Mr F. Hill. The following new members were elected: — Messrs Nicholas (Honc--ary Member), I. A. Nesbit, and T. Johnsbn. The Superintendent then called for practise to be held on Thursday, November 27th., at 6.15 p.m. The meeting was then closed with a hearty vote of thanks to the chair. A social evening was then held in Mr Furd's Store to farewell him. Mr Ford has been a very active member of the Brigade for the past four years. Mr Sutherland presented Mr Ford with a clock in token of thanks from the members of the Brigade for his vaiuable work as Secretary of the Brigade.
