FISHING NEWS
After a fair opening at the beginning of this month fishermen have experienced three weeks of unpleasant conditions during which fishing has often been impossible over a large area of the Lake. During the fine periods enthusiasts have experienced good sport, quite a few limit bags have been taken and the number of slabs have been remarkably few. Indications are that the heavy rain oi the past fortnight may have affected the number of fish caught in the rivers when they are opened next week, but those that are left should be in good condition. Possibly the biggest fish taken so far this year was an llilb. rainbow measuring about 30 inches taken by Mr Stewart Paterson of Wanganui who was fishing at 2-mPe bay. Mr Paterson landed his fish without even getting his feet wet. On Mondav morning reports show- | ed that fishing conditions were improving. One launch owner stafed that given fine weather fishing should be excellent. A party at Waihora reported poor fishing there.
