TAUPO MARCHING GIRLS
A WET DAY PARADE I11 spite of unfavourahle weather conditions on 'Saturday, October 4th., the Taupo Girls* Marching team, led j by Piper Drummer of the Ahuriri \ Pipe Band, marched down Tongariro Street according; to plan,. T&e march was supervised by Mr Paton, from Mountv Mtaa^anui,,. one of the Poverty Bay Centre judges. The march ended at the Majestic Theatre, where the girls were presented to the chairman of the Town Board (Mr J. E. Story), and Mrs Story, by Mr J. Willis. Miss Ruth Anchor, c.lub secretary, presented sprays to Mrs Story and i Miss Jennifer Wells, who represented | visitors from and Clive on behalf of the marching clubs. Wrestling bouts hy Hawkes Bay and Poverty Bay representatives ; were then put o'li at the Theatre and were appreciated by a good audience. In the evenihg a dance was held in Rickit's Hall. Mr Jack Willis, social organiser, wishes to acknowl edge with thanks all Who &ssis£ed in Satu^day's events, and especially Mr Skeen, for the use of the Theatre.
