Do Swan, has been seriously indisposed, and for the present will be unable to carry on his duties with his usual energies. Ah concerned will wish him t speody lecovery and ari early return to the arena of the Campaign. AssociatiCii Executive. A meeting of the Executive of ■ihe Taupo War Memorial Hall Association was held on Monday, Sep- 1 tember 28th. at the office of Mr Ben Armstrong. Apologies were received from Mr E. Wright, aiad from the Organiser, Col. J. D. Swan, who is confined to bed. Hall Foundations, On behalf of the Organiser, Mr W. J. Stevens, Chairman, reported that the hall foimdations had been pegged out, and the plans drawn by Mr Oheal, Surveyor. The question of the Working Bee must be left in abeyance until a tender has been aecepted. It was suggested, and wholeheartedly supported by the meeting that some of the voluntary labour could be used to bring in loads of shingle which would be necessary for the foundations. Guy Fawke's Night. -'The Organiser sent in a report that he had1 interviewed the Fire Brigade, who are only too willing to co-operate and run the Guy Fawke's Night Entertainment for Memorial Hall Fund. The question of funds for fireworks was brought ap? and it was decided to donate a «um equal to that which fhe Fire Brigade had in hand to purchase firew-orks for the entertainment. The Town Board could not give pemission to use ihe Old Orchard, •beeause it had recentiy been sown down in grass seed, but they are please-d to grant the use of the Public Bomain for that night. Visiting Marching Teams. Mcr Stevens reported on the thrilling spectacle of the visiting Marching Teams from the Bay of Plenty Centre on Sunday last, September 28th. It felt that in a short time our Taupo Girls would be able to give demonstrations on a similar scale. Patrons. Brigadier Clifton and Bishop Panapa have intimated that they will be pleased to be Patrons of the War Memorial Hall Association. Other Business. Several ent^rtainments are being organised to swell the funds by local people, and a suggested pro-? gTamme for Muor: Day is being prepared and will be published in nex t week's issue of the "Taupo Times." The meeting requested the Secretary to write a letter to Colonel /Swan expressing their concern at his illness, and wishing him a speedy recovery. The meeting closed with a rerminder that the nexL Executive gathering would be on Monday, October 13th., same place, at 8 p.m.
