A LENGTHY LIST The session of the Magistrate?s Court in Taupo last week follovved a prolonged interval since the previous sitting. The usual interval is two months. As a - result there was a lengthy list for the at ^ention of the Court, and the sitang, over which Mr E. H. HarIow, S.M., presided was extended over Friday and into Saturday forenoon. In the circumstances, it was not possible in the time available before going to press for the current addition for the Times representative to tgain access to the Court records for the purpose of checking up, as the' police staff had a road accident fatality to deal with in addition to the pressure of other duties.

Fatal Road Accident. Maori Youth Killed As reported in the daily Press last week the roadway opposite Mr Pye's Huka Lodge between Taupo and Wairakei was the scene of a fatal road accident, resulting in the^ death of Roger H. Oneroa, aged 19, married, with one child. Oneroa was in a truck, driven by R. Kupa, both employed at the Hotel Wairakei. Also on board was a naval rating on 14 days leave, y?ho it is stated, had 'thumbed a ride." Oneroa was killed instantly. The other two suffered slight bruises and cuts, but after medical exammation were not regarded as hos-p'-al cases. A coroner's inquest was opened onene i on iCafuiday, and after formal proceedings was adjourned. Mr J. D. Swan was Coroner. Outbreak of Fire. A fire alarm raised in Taupo on Friday about 6.30 p.m. brought the local volunteer brigade to Rickit-s Hall where the R.S.A. Ball was about to begin, The outbreak apparently originated in the lighting system the engine of which. back, fired, and set alight to benzine in the tank. Alternative lighting for the dance, however had to be obtained and this was readily given by . Mr Buckleigh, from his garage power plant. His friendly co-oper-ation was much appreciated.
