Public Notices LIGIITING OF FIRES PROHIBITED TAUPO TOWN DISTRICT Pursuant to Section 18 of the Forest and Rural Fires Act, 1947, the lighting of fires in the open in the area comprlsing the Taupo Town District is hereby prohibited until further notice except pursuant to the written permit of a Rural Fire Officer. Tauhara Rural Fire District, Note: Applications for permits to burn should be made to the Office of the | Town Clerk, Taupo Town Board. j TAUHARA RURAL FIRE DISTRICT The above Fire District, constituted under the Forest and Rural ; \ i Fires Act, 1947, comprises an area of j 55,000 acres m Taupo County, bound- 1 ■ ed generally as follows: Commencing | at the ten-mile peg on the Taupo- | Napier State Highway, toward the 1 south-west by the centre of the Tau-po-Napier State Highway to the i boundary of the Taupo Town District; toward the west and south generally by the Taupo Town District to the Waikato River; toward the northeast generally by the right bank of the Waikato River (passing* Huka Falls, Aratiatia Rapids, Afforestation Proprietary, Ltd., pine plantation) and toward the norfch-east and south-east generally by the boundari.es of the Kaigaroa Fire District. The attention of District and Taupo Residents, Fishermen, Pighunters, Deer Stalkers and District Visitors is drawn to the following: — A closed fire season has been proclaimed in the district from October 1, 1952 to April 30, 1953. During this period it is an offence to light a fire in the open air any where in the district \yithout a written pefmit from the undersigned Fire Officers. Any person discovering an unattended fire in the district is under a statutory duty to do his best to put the fire out, and to report the fire to the nearest Fire Officer. It is an offence under the Act to drop or throw matches, cigar ette butts, pipe ashes or any cther smouldering substance on any land, at any time without wholiy extinguishing the smouldering substance before leaving the spot. It is also an offence to enter the 1 pine plantation of Afforestation Pro- j prietary Ltd., without the written permission of the Manager of the j Company.
