Huka Falls and Aratiatia Rapids

STATE HYDRO POLICY ON SCENIC RESORTS In view of various public references to the possible effects on our scenic assets by the Waikato State HydroElectricity schemes bemg progressively developed as far as Taupo, we wrote to the Minister-in-Charge of the Department, the Hon. W. S. Goosman, suggesting that an authoritive statement on ihe subject would be welcoe by the people of Taupo and Wairakei. In his reply, Mr Goosman has kindly forwarded for publication "an uthentic article written recently," which he says, "Summarises the present position very fully." We feel sure that this act of Ministerial courtesty will be appreciated by our readers. The article appears hereunder.--r-Editor. • Svo« /f JAj;
