Mr V. J. Ford of Tokaanu has resigned from the position of chairman of the Tokaanu Domain Board, and IMr A. L. Withington has been apjpointed chairman in his place. Mr iFord expects to leave next month j for Thornton near Whakatane, I where he has purchased a farm. * * * Sir John Cockroft, C.B.E., F.R.S., ' the leader in British Atom Researchy j and Lady Cockcroft, will be staying : at Hotel Wairakei next week-end. ( Lord Elgin is also expected to spend t a few days there from October 15. j I Hotel Wairakei is to be the venue ; this month of the shareholders con- 1 ference of two prominent business firms, Gable Holdings Ltd., and the Taupo Totara Timber Co. Prizes, supper and goods for auction were kindly donated by the Lake Timber and Hopkin's Mill members and supporters. Wianex*s : — • First evening : Gents euchre* Mr N, Duff; ladies euchre: Mrs N. Duff. Final Aggregate evening: Gents euchre, Harry Derby; ladies euchre: Mrs Amorangi (jnr.); Boobies: Mrs Warren and Mr R. Moana; raffle: SMrs N. R. Moana ; gents Aggre, Mr iSimon Warren; Ladies Aggre, Mrs Mona Duff; Gents Consolation, Mr Pat Hepi; Ladies Consolation, Barbara Warren; Games, Josephine Moana. In the abseiice of the Chairlady Mrs Amorangi snr., Mrs N. Moana eongratulated all the winners of the various prizes and also thanked all who have helped and patronised the evenings. It has been decided by the committee to continue the evenings at a later date. A special thanks of appreciation from the committee to Harry Derby, boys of the Paora College, Napier Boys High School and girls of the St. Joseph's Maori GiiTs College (Waitara). # * * GIRLS MARCHING TEAM DANCE Another sociak and dance will be held this month. Again, it will be to help raise funds for the girls* uniforms. It will be at Rickit's Hall, Friday, September 12th.
