BASKETBALL
TAUPO V. ROTORUA O11 Sunday, August 24, Pirate's Basketball Club (Rotorua) paid a return visit to Taupo. The weather was overcast with periods of bright sunshine which tempted a large number of spectators to the Domain. The standard of basketball was high and four enjoyable games were played, The two Taupo teams won three matches and drew the fourth indicating that our local players are up to the standard found in most New Zealand towns. It is hoped that in 1953 it may be possible to field more teams and that weekly competitions will be played. After the matches the guests were refreshed by afternoon tea at the Tongariro XMning Rooms. Scores. Taupo A v. Pirates A 7-5. Taupo A v. Pirates B, 16-4. Taupo B v. Pirates A, 8-8. Taupo B v. Pirate's Midgets , 11-8.
