The qualifying round for the Senior and Junior Men's Championship, was played on Sunday, A-ug-ust 24, where many gvoo-d foxmds were played. The best net sc-ore .was that of the Patron, Mr L. S. Stephenson, 83, 15-68, with D. Neame 82, 13-69 second, and N. iGeorge 92, 24-70 third. The handicapping* committee irnmediately rednced each of the tlxree... by 2 strokes. The ladies played some • Winter Cup matches on the Staday, ihe resuits being:— Mrs Douglas beat Mrs George 1 up« Mrs Douglas beat Mrs Neame 3 and 1. Mrs George beat Mrs Neame. S and 2. Miss Orr beat Mrs Cheal, 3 and 2. On Thursday, August 27, the quaiifying round of the Ladies ^ Championship \vas played, when the following qualified: — sMiss Bransoo, Mrs Hullten, Mrs Logan, Mrs Vedder, IMiss McKelvie, Mrs Douglas, Mrs Young, Miss Orr, on the count baek from Mrs Coibeck. The "following- play off for the first round: — Miss Branson plays Miss Orr. Mrs Vedder plays Miss McKelvie. Mrs Douglas plays Mrs Logan.. Mrs Young plays Mrs Hullten. Sunday, September 7, is the d&y on which the Taupo team visit> Tokoroa to play for the Smith Shield. When Tokoroa played Taupo at Taupo in May, the score was Taupo 22 points, Tokoroa 8 pomfcs.
